More Than The Song
For over 50 years, I’ve lived my life on stage as a singer—learning lessons you can’t find anywhere else but in front of an audience.
This blog is where I share those lessons—through music, story, and experience—with the hope that they help you find your voice.
There’s a moment that happens on stage—just before the music begins.
The lights are on.
The audience is waiting.
And for a split second, everything is quiet.
After 50 years of performing, I’ve come to understand something about that moment.
It’s not about the song.
It’s about what comes through the song.
When I first started, I thought singing was about getting the notes right… hitting the right pitch… remembering the words.
And those things matter.
But they’re not what people remember.
People don’t walk away talking about whether you hit every note perfectly.
They remember how you made them feel.
Somewhere along the way, I realized something had changed.
I wasn’t just singing anymore.
I was communicating.
Every lyric became a story.
Every performance became a connection.
Every audience became part of the experience.
And that lesson doesn’t just live on stage.
It applies to all of us.
Because whether you sing or not…
whether you ever step on a stage or not…
You still have a voice.
The real question is:
Are you using it?
Over the years, I’ve met people who had something to say—but held back.
Not because they didn’t care.
Not because they didn’t know how.
But because they weren’t sure their voice mattered.
Let me tell you something I’ve learned the hard way:
Your voice doesn’t have to be perfect to be powerful.
It just has to be real.
That’s what this blog is about.
Not just music.
Not just performance.
But everything that comes from a life spent showing up, stepping out, and learning how to connect.
Because in the end…
It was never just about the song.
Keep finding your voice.
